Common Ground is a nonpartisan, member-supported civic organization. We convene working groups, forums, lectures, cleanups, and benefits — the everyday infrastructure of Providence's civic life. Everything we do is on the calendar below.
Three ways to show up: walk in free to a forum or screening, sign up for a shift at a cleanup or mutual aid pop-up, or chip in what you can at a benefit or workshop. Money isn't the only thing that funds a city.
Every event lives on the same calendar. No two-tier secret list. Members fund the staff and the building; the building belongs to the neighborhood.
Town halls, candidate forums, monthly working groups. Where Providence does the slow, deliberate work of self-government.
Park cleanups, the garden, the mural, the weekly food pop-up. Sign up for a shift — we feed you and provide gloves.
The annual block party, pay-what-you-can yoga, donation-supported workshops. Suggested tiers; nobody is turned away.
Public lectures, the monthly outdoor screening, Civic Tools workshops. Free or pay-what-you-can, always.
Members get advance notice on Working Group seats, voting rights at the annual meeting, and the satisfaction of knowing they helped fund every cleanup, every forum, every public hour. Memberships start at $10/month.
